Oversized heart & arrow necklace.
We like to toy with well loved icons such as hearts; here we take the classic moment that Cupid's arrow reaches its target, a gem-stone hued heart . The ca 1960 hearts are unmistakably large, translucent and pop out of the composition, while the arrow is a plated, oxidized 1980's reproduction of an arrow originally manufactured probably in the early 20th century- and set with faux marcasite stones.
Historical note: marcasite stones were made popular by Queen Victoria and were originally meant to imitate the sparkle of diamonds but with the dark tone of mourning that Victoria made fashionable starting in the late 19th century on into the 1920's. These stones are not marcasites, but are meant to look like them.
