VICTORIA pearl crescent and star locket necklace

Victorian Crescent and Star Locket Necklace.

Among the most special of lockets are the lockets which are engraved or set with stones in abstract or iconographic patterns popular in the 19th and early 20th century, among them images of love, luck and sentimentality.  While the language of Victorian symbols and flowers has changed, the jewelry which features them is ever lovely, ever captivating and ever collected here and now.  This locket is among one of our favorite motifs: the crescent moon and star.  Here the crescent is set with graduated seed pearls and the star contains a paste stone.

CHAIN DETAILS: This locket pendant ships on an 18" long necklace made from new 14k gold-filled fine 1mm flat wire curb chain. The toggle clasp closes in front and is a new, 14k gold-filled clasp.

CHARM DIMENSIONS: 1" Width (25mm) x 1/8" Depth (3mm)

CONDITION: The front surface of this locket is in beautiful condition; the clasp shuts well. The seed pearls are intact although they show some wear and the paste star has darkened some with age. There is one of the two photo frames intact inside.  The back and sides show some wear to the gold-fill layer, and there is some dimpling in the back surface; given these signs of time passing we would still say this locket is in good vintage condition and ready for another century of wear-!
