Bee Sterling Pendant Necklace with Stone setting
Regular price $135.00
We love designs that feature insects, spiders, and other winged animalia, so it is no surprise that we came up with this wonderful bee pendant, cast in recylced sterling silver, which very subtly references Southwestern jewelry with a saw-tooth bezel carried on the back of the bee in which we have set a semi-precious cabochon-cut stone.
The bee in particular has an interesting history in Occidental jewelry and decorative objects in the past century and a half. In Victorian England, an era spanning most of the 19th century, bee icons referred to the favored virtues of the time such as industriousness, loyalty, team-work, good work ethic etc. In early 19th century France, bees were primary symbols of the Napoleonic empire, a deliberate choice meant to align Napoleon with the ancient imagery of the founding royals of France, Clovis and the Merovingians.
